Youth workshop leader wanted!
Could you help facilitate our Youth Art Programme?
JHG Collective invites young people aged 14-19 to explore all things art!
We are looking for an artist who can lead workshops that will encourage young people to make art and an exhibition inspired by JHG’s latest show Ayo Akingbade’s Show Me The World Mister.
The collective meet fortnightly on Saturdays between 2.30pm-4.30pm.
Dates:
- 10 June
- 24 June
- 8 July
- 22 July
- 5 August
- 19 August
- 2 September
(Dates are subject to change depending on the group’s direction or needs. The dates may shift over the summer holiday period to accommodate the group).
Expectations:
- To work alongside the youth group, encouraging creative endeavours and generating outcomes.
- Encouraging peer lead exploration into creativity and artistic practices, leading through example and facilitating their endeavours.
- Assisting their direction of thought into a co-curated body of work.
- Delivering a culmination of the groups work in the form of an exhibition/ performance/ talk/ film/ takeover/ activity etc.
- Providing your expertise to show the cohort new skills, terminology and experiences.
- Positively engaging with and drawing influence from Ayo Akingbade’s exhibition, creating links between the cohorts work and the artwork on show in the gallery.
- Initiating conversation between the group to inspire and expand their understanding of art and artistic practices.
- You will be working alongside the group to encourage, develop and inspire the cohort into generating an interesting response to the exhibition.
- Forming connections with the group to create meaningful outcomes.
- The workshops you will lead will end in an exhibition, workshop or resource.
Structure of the programme:
- You will be available to assist, lead, cooperate and encourage the young people programme between the dates listed above.
- Every other Saturday.
- The structure of each session will be dictated by the cohort, however it will be a requirement to produce outcomes from the programme and a final culmination of work to put on show for the public to engage with.
- You may arrive at 1.30pm to set up the space and you will have until 5pm to clean down.
- You will be provided with a workshop assistant to help facilitate any activity the cohort develop.
Fees and Applications:
£150 per session, plus 3 planning sessions at £50 each (£150).
