Call for artists
Hamble Peninsula Sounds
Commissioning a Sound Archive capturing field recordings and creative commissions, and engaging residents in its creation.
Eastleigh Borough Council is inviting submissions from Artists or an Artist Collective to develop and deliver a Sound Archive Commission for Bursledon, Hamble and Hound.
Eastleigh Borough Council is committed to supporting Public Art as a contributing factor in ‘building strong, vibrant and healthy communities’ (EBC Public Art Strategy).
This project aims to use the funding available from developer’s contributions to work with Artists who can develop a Sound Archive; capturing field recordings and creative commissions responding to the history, culture and biodiversity of the Hamble Peninsula, and engaging residents in its creation.
A total commission budget of £30,000 is available to the Appointed Artists. Artists is used as an inclusive term which could also describe musicians, poets, writers etc.
The Council welcomes proposals from across the creative disciplines including interdisciplinary approaches between Artists and collaborators of their choosing.
For full information about the commission opportunity and how to apply please read the Artist’s Brief and Draft Artist’s Contract on the Council’s website.
