Gallery Assistant
Close Ltd are looking for a part-time Gallery Assistant to provide an excellent visitor experience for all of our audiences.
Job Title: Gallery Assistant
Job Purpose: To assist in providing an excellent visitor experience for all of our audiences.
Application deadline: Friday 6 Jan 2023
Start Date: Saturday 21 Jan 2023
Hours: 10am-4pm Saturdays during exhibitions dates, flexibility to occasionally work on Fridays and Private Views. Remuneration to be discussed at interview.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively welcome, orientate and support visitors on their arrival to the gallery and offering refreshments
- Enhance the visitor experience by demonstrating knowledge of previous exhibitions, associated artists and other local arts venues in a friendly, genuine and helpful manner.
- Keep a record of visitor figures and sales
- Maintain a tidy and ordered office, gallery and courtyard
- Ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere in the gallery
- Maintain the safety and integrity of art work at all times
- Being flexible and assisting in the general operations of the Gallery
- Assist in maintaining our online inventory
- Help organise our events and private views
- Assisting with invitations and guest lists
- Maintaining our mailing list
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and the Gallery team may, at any time, allocate other tasks which are of similar nature or level
Person Specification:
Essential attributes:
- Experience of working with the public in a visitor-facing role
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills to help with updating our website and online inventory, Google mail/drive knowledge
- Friendly, helpful and enthusiastic disposition
- Flexible approach, willing to take on a variety of tasks
- Knowledge of and interest in Art
Desirable attributes:
- Interest in our artists and previous exhibitions
- Taking photos for social media; using Instagram.
