Figuring Out... Making a budget
Online workshop looking at budgeting for arts projects, exhibitions and commissions.
Balancing your finances and making sure you receive the money you need is fundamental to making your best work and sustaining your practice. In our next Figuring Out… online workshop we will be taking a deep dive into budgeting for arts projects, exhibitions and commissions. Led by independent curator and mentor, Mark Devereux you will be led through practical and theoretical conversations to give you the tools to build your own budgets.
Mark will discuss how to create a day rate that is unique to you and your practice and how you can design sliding scales to respond to each opportunity. We will look at the main components that make-up a robust budget and highlight some of the expenditure lines many artists forget to include. You will be encouraged to share your personal experiences and questions for budgeting in your creative practice during this online (Zoom) workshop.
Designed for emerging and early-career artists, this workshop will be limited to 12 participants to allow group conversations and sharing.
Figuring Out… is Mark Devereux Projects’ online and in-person workshop programme, focusing on some of the most fundamental aspects of creating and sustaining an artist career. This workshop is part of our Pay It Forward ticket scheme, giving two new options to support artists from low income backgrounds.
