Expressions of Interest: Artist's Neon Signs
4x opportunities for SW-based visual artists to have a new artwork fabricated as a neon sign.
Exeter Phoenix have teamed up with sign makers Neon87 to create an opportunity for 4x South-West-based artists to have work fabricated as an illuminated (LED) neon sign for free.
How it works:
- Artists are invited to submit a simple expression of interest and will be selected based on online examples of their current practice (website or Instagram feed) by a panel convened by Exeter Phoenix.
- 4x selected artists will create a line concept (image and/or text), which will be transformed into an illuminated LED sign in collaboration with Neon87’s designer.
- The finished size of artworks is expected to be a maximum of approximately 100 x 120cm with some scope for discussion as appropriate.
Artworks will be sited at various locations during 2022/23.
At the end of each exhibition period, the artist will retain ownership of the physical sign for their own use and at no cost. There is no further cash fee for this opportunity, but travel expenses will be covered by Exeter Phoenix for design/site visits.
