Job
Engagement Officer Young People & Pathways
Engage young people with the collections and stories of Bristol Museums, and support the creative workforce of the future.
Bristol Culture & Creative Industries is looking for a dynamic, experienced Engagement Officer to help us put young people aged 16-25 at the heart of our museums service.
You will sit within the Programming Team that covers exhibitions and public programmes across our museum sites, but working with colleagues right across the museums teams to develop and deliver projects. Using your skill at engaging and supporting young adults, you will build and manage our Young Collective advisory group and lead projects to ensure that young voices are heard in decision making across the service.
You will also devise and manage targeted placement and work experience projects aimed at opening up creative career pathways for young people from diverse and less advantaged backgrounds. All this will be underpinned by your knowledge of the sector and the partnerships you will build and maintain across Bristol and the wider region.
This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, experience of delivering meaningful creative engagement and co-production with young adults, a strong commitment to equalities and inclusion, and knowledge of safeguarding.
You will need to draw upon your empathy, understanding of the challenges young people experience, and creative thinking skills to help us make a real difference to them and the museums service.
Working hours are 25.9 per week (0.7 full time equivalent), which are open for flexible working. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
