Engagement Officer (Skills Development)
We’re looking for an experienced skills development professional
Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2022. However likely to be extended to 31 March 2023 subject to funding decision during December 2021.
Part-time: 18.5 hrs – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (negotiable)
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery’s stunning displays reveal Devon and Exeter’s rich history and global connections. A busy programme of temporary exhibitions, events and engagement activities attract a diverse audience. It was the Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2012.
We’re looking for an experienced skills development professional who will be responsible for devising, planning and delivering programmes of work that help people from all parts of society develop their skills and careers in the cultural and creative sector.
Reporting to the Head of Audience Development, this is a key manager-level role. We need someone with energy, enthusiasm and flair, who can lead a programme that builds individuals’ insights, skills, confidence and experience of the cultural and creative sector. You will have:
- Experience of designing and delivering skills development plans for a wide range of people from different backgrounds and ages, including working with young people and students
- Experience of developing collaborative partnerships with relevant learning organisations, agencies and educational establishments
- A strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace
- Excellent written, interpersonal, persuasive and negotiating skills
This is a busy role and you will need to be comfortable working on your own initiative, able to balance various demands on your time. You will have a keen interest in museums, arts and heritage and will be an enthusiastic advocate for our work.
This is an exciting opportunity, with huge scope for someone who wants to make an impact within an outstanding museum.
Initially an 18-month contract, with scope for extension, depending on funding.
Whilst the job title of this post is ‘officer’, this role is the equivalent of a manager-level position outside of the local government sector.
