Emerging Artists Bursary to study with St Ives School of Painting
We are looking to award a full bursary to enable two 19 – 25 year old emerging artists who live in Cornwall to join our Porthmeor Programme Online.
Purpose
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to study with St Ives School of Painting. We are looking to award a full bursary to enable two 19-25 year old emerging artists who live in Cornwall to attend the Porthmeor Programme Online, for free. This is generously funded by the artist Roy Ray who left a legacy fund to us. He was Director here for 35 years and was passionate about supporting emerging artists to help them establish a career.
Programme
This is a 6 month online intensive with the primary purpose of expanding your personal practice. Running through the programme is the development of your critical voice through personal projects, workshops, one to ones and group crits. It is about discovery, taking risks and gaining insights. We design the sessions to limber up your creative practice, to energize and to build the critical voice you need as an artist. It is about helping you become the artist you want to be.
Contact Time
Every month there will be a weekend workshop for you to attend online. There will be a small group follow on discussion and monthly personal 1 to 1 tutorials.
Online Platforms
The programme will be delivered on Zoom and we will also provide an online platform for your group to discuss and share work. This is for peer support and encouragement. Your tutor will also interact between sessions providing ongoing feedback and support.
Eligibility
If you are an emerging artist, live in Cornwall and are 19-25 years old, you can to apply for a free place on Porthmeor Programme Online.
How it works
1. Apply by 1st September, midnight, on our website.
2. You will then be invited to have an online interview about you and your work with Youth Arts Manager Cat Lee.
3. You will be notified if you have been awarded the opportunity by middle of September. Start date for the course is 29th September 2023.
4. To help you supplement the Programme with practical learning we offer a 15% discount on all our online sessions for the duration of the programme.
