DORSET ART WEEKS COMMISSION OPPORTUNITY
DORSET VISUAL ARTS (DVA) + DORSET ART WEEKS (DAW) + HALL & WOODHOUSE (H&W) are pleased to offer A RESIDENCY + COMMISSION OPPORTUNITY
The work produced will be presented at the Launch of Dorset Art Weeks 2024 - Wednesday 15 May 2024, 7pm at The Crown Hotel, Blandford Forum, Dorset.
DURATION
It is anticipated the selected artists will undertake up to 3 days on-site and their own studio time.
ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is open to artists based in Dorset who are members of Dorset Visual Arts and/or participants in Dorset Art Weeks as well as recent graduates. This opportunity is particularly suitable for, but not exclusive to, emerging or early career artists, including students attending or having recently graduated from Arts University Bournemouth or Foundation at Weymouth College.
BRIEF
To produce one work, or a small series of works, reflecting on the life of Hall & Woodhouse brewery and its staff through engagement and observation; working both on-site and back in your studio.
PRESENTATION and OWNERSHIP
The work produced will be exhibited, with an opportunity to talk about the experience, at the Dorset Art Weeks Launch Event at The Crown Hotel on Wednesday 15 May 2024. Any work in-progress that the artist wishes to share in advance will be shared via DVA and DAW various social media accounts. A display of the work will be held at H&W Brewery Tap, Bournemouth Road, Blandford Forum, Dorset, DT11 9LS and feature as a venue during Dorset Art Weeks 2024 (25 May - 9 June).
The work will be your property but copyright will be shared for 12 months, enabling DVA/DAW and Hall & Woodhouse to use reproduced images for their own artistic, charitable and marketing purposes. Thereafter by permission.
ORGANISATION
Liaison and Management of the commission will be shared as relevant between DAW and Hall & Woodhouse.
FEE
£750 to include artist fee and all expenses including travel.

SHORTLIST INTERVIEWS: THURSDAY 29 FEBRUARY
NOTIFICATION: FRIDAY 1 MARCH
DORSET ART WEEKS LAUNCH: 15 MAY
SELECTION
Up to 4 applicants will be shortlisted. These applicants will be invited to arrange a preliminary visit to the brewery in advance of the interview date so they can refine their interest and speculative approach. ONE interview date will be confirmed with shortlisted applicants.
