Networking creatives across Devon is our mission with the objective of supporting artists and makers in creating a sustainable living from their art. We do this through the provision of valuable creative networks, the collation and sharing of opportunities, and delivery of events, exhibitions and workshops, including the regions annual open studios event.

As a Voluntary Board Member, you will be part of a small team of 8-9 dedicated individuals coordinating this network vital to the Devon visual arts community. Alongside the Chair, you will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing strength of the organisation in an administrative, strategic and decision-making capacity, as well as play a role in the delivery of an annual programme of events and activity.

The main requirement of any applicant is a commitment to the ethos of Devon Artist Network to deliver for its members. As a voluntary role, self-motivation to deliver on the organisations remit to promote opportunities for artists and play a part in creating activity that supports this is essential.

Applicants will need to be based in Devon, but it is not essential that you are a member of Devon Artist Network, nor that you are an artist yourself. You should however be passionate about the visual arts sector and its contribution to the region.

We are specifically interested in recruiting individuals with any of the below experience:

Finance and fundraising background to support the financial obligations of the organisation and/or assist with fundraising, securing sponsorship and grant applications

Networking and network development to expand the organisations partners beyond its members

Secretarial and administrative skills to support and implement management systems for the network including membership contact management, file sharing etc.

Wordpress Content Management Systems to support updates and administration of the organisations online platforms

Exhibition and curatorial experience to support delivery of our events and exhibitions programme

Social Media to support with campaigns, channels and overseeing our social media volunteers

In addition, a new Chair is due to be appointed no later than the 2023 AGM.

It is anticipated that activities will take approximately 1-2 days per month of member time.

Please apply if you would like to play a part in leading Devon’s visual arts community, supporting our annual open studios event and promoting Devon as a county of creative excellence.

Interested applicants should send a CV and covering letter outlining relevant experience and expressing why they would be interested in joining the team to info@devonartistnetwork.co.uk.

Applicants may subsequently be invited for an informal conversation with the board.
