Chair and Trustees
Bristol based charity Bricks seeks to recruit new trustees to join our board of trustees, and a new chair to lead the board.
TRUSTEE ROLE
Bricks board’s role is to shape and set the strategic direction of the organisation, agreeing the vision and key objective in partnership with the CEO. This includes oversight of two current areas of work St Annes House and Bricks Public Art Agency.
The full board meets six times a year, generally 6pm on a weeknight and lasting no more than two hours, with the option to join online or at St Annes House.
There are subcommittees for:
Finance and Fundraising (three times a year)
Capital project (four times a year)
H&S and Operations (twice a year)
Public Art (twice a year)
Between board meetings the trustees support on an adhoc basis.
We appreciate that trustees live busy lives and will work with you to find a balance that works for all and make sure it’s within the capacity you want to give.
CHAIR ROLE
Bricks Chair will work closely with the CEO to support the board in setting the strategic direction for the organisation.
At this point in time, with the organisation now entering its sixth year and gearing up for a large sequence of capital works, we are looking for a chair to support the next stage of our journey and evolution as an organisation.
YOU
You do not need any prior board experience, but instead a passion for seeing positive change in Bristol through community and creative projects.
We are recruiting to both bring on particular skill sets to the board and to broaden the collective lived experience of the board, so we don’t expect all applicants to have specific professional skill sets in these areas, however some skill sets we are looking to bring on are:
Legal, particularly charity law, construction or property
HR
Capital development projects
Public Art Commissioning
Leadership of a non profit organisation.
Housing
Communications/ PR
Lived experience would include people from Black and Minority Ethnic Backgrounds and lived experience as a person with a disability as these lived experiences are under-represented in our current board.
CURRENT TRUSTEES
Trish Brown, Dean Coates (current Chair, stepping down Spring 2024), James Flintoff (Treasurer), Ele George, Robin Hague, Jo Lathwood.
