Call out for creative practitioners to deliver workshops
Call out for creative practitioners to deliver workshops at the Burton
We’re looking to expand on the workshops that we provide here at the Burton. These are mainly to adults who are already established artists or who enjoy learning new creative skills at beginner level.
We are inviting experienced artists and facilitators to contact us with your ideas for workshops. Below is by no means an exclusive list, but we are particularly interested in hearing from artists who can explore the following themes:
– Creating inks out of natural products, such as oak gall
– Fabric with natural dyes
– Willow sculpture
– Illustration, particularly for children’s storybooks
– Drawing and painting
– Textiles
– Outdoor workshops
– Drawing with an iPad, particularly using Procreate software
We’re also very keen to hear from artists and facilitators who have experience in teaching children aged 8 – 16 years, and who are free during the Summer holidays.
A note on Associates:
Associates are freelancers who regularly work for the Burton and have a continuous relationship with us. Being an Associate will allow you certain benefits, such as professional development opportunities. Associates are paid to deliver workshops.
How to apply:
Please email a CV and Proposal (no longer than one side of A4) to carole@theburton.org.
Your Proposal should include the following:
– Outline for a workshop idea, including length and material costs per person (bear in mind that if the workshop is at the Burton, we can cater for 12 people max, and our opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am–4pm, Sunday 11am-4pm)
– A short statement about your own artistic practice
– A link to a website or an online portfolio showing examples of your work
Deadline for submission: 31 May 2023
—
We particularly welcome applications from people who are currently under-represented in the UK arts sector, including those who identify as D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, those from lower socio-economic backgrounds or living or working in areas of socio-economic deprivation, and those who experience racism.
We realise that text-based applications do not suit everyone, so if you would like to apply in a different way, for example via video or audio, or require this information in a different format, please get in touch with us by writing to Carole Evans at carole@theburton.org or calling 01237 471455.
We want to remove as many barriers to applying as we can.
