Cafe and Operations Co-ordinator
Café and Operations Co-ordinator at Redwing Gallery , Penzance
The café and operations co-ordinator will be key to the smooth and effective day-to-day operational activities of Redwing Gallery and Café. This will involve a wide range of responsibilities and duties including:
- Creating an inclusive, welcoming environment and atmosphere
- Coordinating the rota
- Supporting and training others – including young people on placement
- Managing phone, email and in-person enquiries
- Opening up and locking up
- Selling of art, books and merchandise
- Managing space, room hire and group bookings logistics
- Running the till confidently, including cash handling, reconciliation and point of sale duties
- Preparing and serving food and drinks
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming café and gallery space
- Stocktaking and ordering
Monitoring, evaluating and writing basic reports
- Supporting health and safety at Redwing Gallery
- Other operational duties relevant to the gallery, café, studios and other projects such as the Food Larder
Person Specification
This role will suit someone who is caring, reliable, proactive with a genuine ability to relate well to others, able to take on responsibility and manage multiple duties with project coordination experience, ideally in the arts or catering.

- Experience of working in an arts, café or voluntary sector setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate and communicate positively with everybody
- Ability to juggle and prioritise according to need, as duties will vary enormously
- Experience of managing and/or coordinating staff/volunteers/colleagues
- Ability, willingness and commitment to reflect, give and take feedback, apply learning and contribute to development
- Ability to create and contribute to a positive supportive environment for all whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Ability to use initiative and manage multiple tasks

Contract length:
4 months initially, ideally starting as soon as possible.
