Artist Studio Programme 2027 – The Wilson, Cheltenham

12-month studio residency for emerging artists in Gloucestershire (no cost).

The Wilson Art Gallery & Museum in Cheltenham is inviting applications for its 2027 Artist Studio Programme, offering emerging artists the space, support and opportunities to develop their professional practice within a busy cultural venue.

Successful applicants will receive free studio space for 12 months, alongside one-to-one mentoring, professional development, opportunities to exhibit and share their work, and the chance to collaborate with artists, communities and audiences through The Wilson’s We Are Creators activity.

The residency is more than a workspace. Artists become active members of The Wilson’s creative community and are expected to contribute to its public programme through co-production, including workshops, events and WILSON NIGHTS. Artists should be able to use their studio on at least three days each week.

The opportunity is open to emerging artists aged 18+ living in Gloucestershire. Artists do not need formal arts qualifications, and there is no upper age limit. The Wilson particularly welcomes applications from artists and communities currently underrepresented within the arts.

Most studios are single occupancy, with one larger shared studio. Due to the nature of the building and studio spaces, particularly noisy or messy practices and some equipment, including most kilns, cannot be accommodated.
