Apply for the Making Room Residency

a space’ arts are pleased to announce the Making Room Residency, which will offer a fully funded studio residency for local artists

At 'a space' arts, we recognise the barriers artists face in having access to a dedicated workspace for their practice and in our commitment to supporting accessibility for all of Southampton’s visual artist community, we are pleased to announce our new programme 'the Making Room Residency’.

Between 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023, we’re offering four visual artists a three month fully funded studio residency for artists in the local area in addition to support from the ‘a space’ arts team and resources including 1-to-1’s, access to Arch 04 Testing Space and the chance to develop content with our communications team. The Making Room Residency will specifically look to address the imbalances of the arts sector by supporting artists who experience racism, come from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, identify as neurodivergent, disabled or D/deaf, and those with caring responsibilities, removing the limitations and pressures funding or inaccessible space can often present.

Applications for the Making Room Residency close on Monday 14th March
