Sandy Hill Arts

Sandy Hill Arts is a new charity consolidating some twenty years of previous visual arts activity on site to become a significant art hub in Purbeck. To a background of providing some 18 artist studios for rent, we have added a programme of art and craft education, exhibition and performance of all kinds. Our primary goal is to support local artists and stimulate new art and craft to the benefit of communities in Purbeck and beyond, including involvement in local festivals. We host the artist led Boilerhouse Gallery which displays and sells the work of a local cooperative, as well as regular art and craft fairs. Many of the artist studios welcome visitors but decide their own opening hours.
We are also keen to provide additional community engagement and use our experience and the natural asset of our calm little wooded valley site (visitors often call it an 'oasis') to support explicit art and wellbeing projects. The 1.7 acre site is open to visitors in reasonable daylight hours to enjoy our little wooded valley and stream, with views of Corfe Castle and the Swanage Steam Railway. The birdsong is glorious...
