Artist-led
Brick Project CIC
Brick Project is a community interest company who allow people to take collective ownership of an area by creating a permanent public piece
Brick Project creates social painting activities that draw communities together. We invite participants to paint an individual piece of art that forms part of a collective mural: - in a Brick Project (taking place on a public brick wall) - or a Mandala Project (a portable version, where each circle is a piece of a Mandala, an ancient circular mind map). We take commissions and bookings internationally.
Brick Project evolved from a piece of work from director Dan Petley in 2011, connecting with Fraisia Bruist Papazian to become a UK-based community interest company (CIC) in 2019.
We facilitate the creation of thousands of mini-artworks created by local people. These become a physical and digital archive of the project itself and the community who took part.
Working at unloved or neglected bricked or tiled public areas, Brick Project's main objectives are:
- improving the environment people are living in by developing an event, creating a memory of place for years to come.
- facilitating a collaborative activity where people of different backgrounds can work cooperatively on a permanent public art piece.
