Community Youth Art Center COYAC
Community Youth Art Center COYAC is a not for profit art space in the town of Bamenda in the north west region of Cameroon in Africa.
This non profit art space was created by community artist Bobo Leennox with the aim to encourage aspiring and underrepresented young artists from English speaking anglophones Cameroon who have seen marginalization in all Following the only political crisis dupped the anglophones crisis that started since 2016 and has claimed lives of over 5000 people especially young people and woman, whereby children and community youths have not been to school since 2017 because of attacks between non state armed groups and forces of the government, we created COYAC as a sanctuary to children and youths, a space for self expression, resilient while using art to bring back sanity, peace, harmony while using art as a tool to empower youths for sustainable sociocultural and socioeconomic development.
Because of lack of resources, discrimination both nationally and internationally because social and financial background, often marked intelligent even before they apply for national and international art opportunities, we created the space to bridge that gape and to establish international network and collaboration with other organizations, foundations, art residencies, galleries, exhibition organizers and individuals whose objective is to share knowledge, build capacities and build a better international art, cultural and a curatorial sector.
