BEEF

Bristol Experimental Expanded Film (BEEF) is a film and sound collective supporting experimental practice in Bristol since 2015.

BEEF provides an independent platform and much needed resource for artists’ production, distribution and critical engagement, predominantly focusing on experimental and analogue practices. BEEF members are a mix of artists, curators, producers, organisers, writers, teachers and academics who meet regularly to share work, and develop activities and opportunities as an artist-led collective. BEEF Lab is a formalised group of BEEF artists working with 16mm film who are dedicated to skill sharing, preservation of resources and equipment in photochemical practices. BEEF have a 16mm film darkroom at our home in Jamaica Street Studios, Stokes Croft, Bristol. The darkroom is used by members and for workshops, for developing and printing motion picture film, with equipment for handling and processing film in the absence of light; safe light, splicers, drying racks, sink etc.
