Boscombe Radicle Arts Collective

B.R.A.C. is a Dorset-based arts collective amplifying global majority voices through inclusive, socially engaged projects, exhibitions, and workshops.

We are BRAC – a collective of artists from the global majority based in Dorset. BRAC stands for Black and Racialised Artists Collective, and we exist to centre and celebrate the voices, stories, and creative practices of artists who have long been underrepresented in the UK arts scene – particularly in rural and coastal areas like Dorset. We came together in recognition of the need for a visible, supportive, and empowering space for artists of colour living and working in this region. Our experiences—individual and shared—speak to the importance of creating networks of solidarity, representation, and opportunity in areas where diversity is often underacknowledged. Why we exist: • To create space for artists from the global majority to connect, collaborate, and thrive. • To challenge systemic barriers within the arts and cultural sectors, particularly in the South West. • To celebrate the richness and complexity of our cultural identities through art, dialogue, and community engagement. What we hope to achieve on the Dorset art scene: • Increase visibility and representation of global majority artists in exhibitions, events, and public programmes. • Build partnerships with local arts organisations, venues, and councils to co-create more inclusive opportunities. • Develop platforms for education, storytelling, and cultural exchange that reflect the diversity of modern Dorset. • Offer peer support and mentoring for emerging artists and creatives. We believe Dorset’s creative landscape is richer when it includes all voices. Through BRAC, we are committed to making that belief a reality—by showing up, speaking out, and making work that matters. We would welcome opportunities to connect with fellow artists, curators, educators, and organisations who share our commitment to inclusion and equity in the arts.
