Black South West Network (BSWN)

Racial Justice organisation working across the region to support Black and Racialised community-led initiatives, cultural producers & entrepreneurs.

We are a Black-led racial justice organisation based in Bristol that supports the development of dynamic, independent, and strong Black and Minoritised communities, businesses, and organisations to flourish whilst challenging systemic barriers. We drive racial equity in the UK society’s dimensions of research, policy, innovation, socio-economics, and health through a collective and meaningful community-led approach.

BSWN’s strategic aim of our Cultural Heritage Programme is to impact a range of racial justice measures through culture and heritage work. In this programme, we are continuing the development work of our Intangible Cultural Heritage project to define and establish a physical and digital (Un)Museum of Black Culture and Heritage and this longstanding strand of work is now bearing fruit with the development of dedicated spaces within The Coach House. This work is overseen by a broad group of stakeholders from across the country and from within the Black and Minoritised Culture and Heritage sector to add their ideas and professional and academic knowledge to further inform the theoretical and practical development of the (Un)Museum project.
