Senior AV Technician, Spike Island

r[email protected]

Deadline Friday 23 August 2019

Interview Date 2 and 3 September 2019

Spike Island is recruiting for a Senior AV Technician.

Spike Island is a dynamic arts centre that supports, produces and presents contemporary art and culture. We engage audiences in our work through a diverse programme of exhibitions and interdisciplinary events; and we directly support artists through new commissions and critically-engaged artist development opportunities that widen access to our programme and facilities.

To support this mission, we offer bespoke production and exhibition services, and provide subsidised studios and co-working spaces for artists, designers and artist-led organisations based in the South West. We also provide office spaces for creative businesses and host the University of the West of England’s Fine Art programmes.

Spike Island Exhibition Services include audio-visual equipment hire and installation, film production and post-production services, and fabrication. Our team has worked nationally and internationally with artists, arts organisations, galleries and museums right across the arts and heritage sectors. Our expertise has enabled a broad range of artists to develop and deliver ambitious moving image projects.

The role

We are now investing in Exhibition Services to expand the team and grow the business. We plan to further develop our outstanding industry reputation and long-standing history as a leading audio visual service provider with significant local, national and international experience.

The Senior AV Technician (part time) will plan, coordinate and deliver Exhibition Services for artists, galleries and museums, with a focus on hiring and installing audio visual (AV) equipment. The Senior AV Technician will also work closely with the Exhibition Services Business Coordinator to maintain systems and processes that enable Exhibition Services to develop and function efficiently and effectively. We’re looking for a skilled and experienced technician who works confidently with a range of audio visual equipment, and is confident in delivering technical projects; from initial inception right through to job completion.

The Senior AV Technician position is offered part time (21 hours per week), £20,572 p.a. pro rata.
