ABOUT

The Laboratory of Dissent is a place to test ideas and experiment with what it means to share space with multiple viewpoints and persons. This years theme for Laboratory of Dissent is ‘Inside / Outside’. It pulls focus on the relational qualities of creative or political discourse. We currently live in an increasingly polarised society where for many reasons you can find yourself either ‘inside’ or ‘outside’. Divisions exist politically environmentally, ideologically, economically and socially. At the same time our understanding of our own identity is changing, lines are blurring between an on and offline world, social media adds a further dimension of inclusion or exclusion. In relation to Dissent, INSIDE-OUTSIDE invites you to explore within the Laboratory where (and when) you draw a line. Through creative participation and conversation we can learn more about ourselves, and collaborative working in this day and age.

To amplify our shared connectivity, discourse, and diversity, you are invited to contribute to the Laboratory of Dissent launch event: A Visual Art Symposium on Saturday 2nd November (TBC). The Symposium will kick-start the laboratory process which will run for 5 weeks, performed by CAS Associate Artists in a dialogic and site-responsive way.
