Jennifer Higham – teacher

Jen has been teaching dance for over 20 years. She has performed in the West End and has choreographed countless musicals. After training as a dancer – achieving Graduate 1 & 2 and Associates in Ballet, Tap and Jazz – Jen went on to acting, and was offered a place at RADA.

However, she never went, because she was cast in the Miramax feature film Ella Enchanted. This led to a career in theatre, including: the National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Trafalgar theatre, The Gate Theatre, Richmond Theatre, The Watermill,

Bristol Old Vic to name but a few. Jen also works regularly in television and film, appearing in productions as diverse as Persuasion, Back Home, Star and The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies; working with directors like Stephen Poliakoff, Roger Michelle and Woody Allen.

Throughout her career, Jen has used her dance training extensively. It is a wonderful tool to use in productions, making you aware of your body and how to use it to your advantage. Jen is delighted to offer these dance classes to all who have a passion for dance and the desire to improve their skills, up their game and grow as a performer.

The Actors’ Workshop is a unique centre of excellence, providing young performers who have the drive and determination to learn their craft with unparalleled professional training.

Taking the drama colleges as our model, we have developed and continue to refine a unique programme, which helps our students acquire the skills they need to work in the industry. Taught by trained, experienced professional actors, our skills-based classes cover everything from Shakespeare to musical theatre. Our highly successful College Foundation Course at the Tobacco Factory prepares students for drama school auditions; every year half our students are accepted on BA/MA courses at accredited conservatoires.

We also run small classes for teenagers – at another tobacco factory: Factory

8 on Upton Road in Bedminster.
