David Cuthbert studied at the Central School of Art & Design in London where he graduated in Fine Art, Painting in 1973. He taught at St Martin's School of Art in London for ten years before returning to the South West. He has been painting, exhibiting and writing for publication since he left college in 1974; and has work in several collections globally. He currently runs The Art Shed in Winscombe with his wife Ros Cuthbert RWA. The paintings in this exhibition are a selection from a series he has recently completed. Some are painted over previous paintings with varying coverage and in some instances the underlying painting may have had some bearing on the final work. Positive influences have also come from his visits to exhibitions by other artists. There are many different references within the paintings but each speaks for itself through a purely visual language also, exemplifying the extents of what is achievable with paint.
