We are delighted to announce the inaugural exhibition at the University of Gloucestershire’s new Hardwick Gallery by MA Fine Art graduating students.

The exhibition is the culmination of a period of intensive studio practice and the distillation of substantial bodies of work. It will showcase the graduating students’ personal investigations and artistic concerns, their direct engagement with material and subject, which have produced a diverse array of works, from Anna Curtin’s abstract landscape paintings etched with GPS mapping traces, to Anthea Millier’s sculptures and prints derived from urban landscapes, and Caroline Green’s paintings reflecting on contemporary ruins and redundant structures.

Hardwick Gallery is an exciting new initiative within the refurbished Hardwick campus at the University of Gloucestershire. The gallery will present a dynamic programme of public exhibitions, talks, workshops and discussions, and offers a new regional centre to experience contemporary artistic practice.

The public programme at Hardwick Gallery is co-ordinated by Sarah Bowden, the founder and director of MEANTIME artist-led project-space, which has been at the centre of critically engaged practice in Cheltenham since 2007. With Hardwick Gallery, Sarah Bowden will continue in the contingent, experimental vein established by MEANTIME and will build on its reputation for critical and artistic development and commitment to public engagement.
