This intensive, hands-on course will introduce participants to the beautifully sensitive print process of Stone Lithography. Drawing directly on to the surface of finely grained Bavarian limestone offers a wealth of mark making possibilities - from soft crayon lines to distinctive tusche washes. We will explore a range of greasy drawing materials, and, through step-by-step demonstrations, you will be guided through the etching and printing process. Demonstrations will include stone preparation, paper handling, ink mixing, registration and printing plus additional techniques which can be catered to each print, many of which can be transferred to other print disciplines. This course is suitable for those who are new to lithography or for more experienced printmakers who want to refresh their skills.
