Join artists Feral Practice and Marcus Coates for an informal walk and talk starting at Bridgwater library. Ask questions and discover answers from plants as you walk.

Part of Ask Somerset’s Plants, a new participatory sound work that uses plant knowledge to help solve everyday human problems and dilemmas. Guided by questions submitted by the public in June this year, the artists and local plant experts have visited special habitats in Somerset to meet plants whose qualities and life stories can hold a mirror to the challenges we face as humans.

These discoveries have been edited to create a series of audio journeys that can be accessed through displays at libraries across Somerset, heard on BBC Somerset during the Art Weeks Festival and downloaded as podcasts to listen to at home or on your visits to the plants.

The schedule is available at askthewild.net/asp / somersetartworks.org.uk/asp

Commissioned by Somerset Art Works. Funded by Arts Counci England, with additional support from Somerset Film and Somerset Library Services. Special thanks to the plant experts, RSBP, Plantlife, Natural England and Somerset Rare Plants Group, who assisted the artists to make this project possible.

Ask Somerset’s Plants is an extension of Ask The Wild - a participatory project exploring knowledge beyond the human, which climbs across the barriers between different disciplines and opens up unexpected pathways of creative thinking for everyday life.
