Commissioning contemporary artists

Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery Exeter, Queen St, EX43RX

Admission Fee: £8 (friends: £6)

RAMM's Contemporary Art Curator, Lara Goodband, reflects on the excitement and challenges, across her twenty-five years as a curator, of commissioning artists to create new work inspired by museum collections. Appointed in October 2018 to lead a programme of contemporary art commissions, events and displays, she has commissioned new works for RAMM's ‘Sea Garden’ exhibition (opening 16 November).

Artists in ‘Sea Garden’ respond to RAMM’s seaweed collections and the health of our oceans through film and photography. We encourage you to visit the exhibition before the talk as Lara will be referring to specific works.

Organised by Friends of Exeter Museums & Art Gallery, registered charity no. 306649. The Friends support the museum with financial help towards acquisitions and conservation.

Tickets are available online or from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum reception in person or by phone using a credit or debit card on 01392 265858 during opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
