Over the past 18 months The Burton has been given unprecedented access to the archives of Ackland and Edwards, through the generosity of the Ackland and Edwards Trust.

Nicole Hicken, one of our volunteers, has taken up the monumental task of documenting and auditing the archive. She has carefully transcribed and pieced together the diaries and other ephemera, providing detailed backgrounds to many of the artworks by Ackland and Edwards held in the collection.

A play on words, Ackland and Edwards, ‘Read Between the Lines’ refers to the insight provided by the diaries, extracts of which will be displayed alongside the artworks they discuss.
