Advocacy

Artists U

Artists U is a US-based grassroots planning and professional development program run by and for artists, in Philadelphia, Baltimore and North Carolina. Everything they do is free and open-source.

Founder, artist and choreographer Andres Simonet has written a book, Making Your Life As An Artist, a guide to building a balanced, sustainable artistic life available as a free download. We include it here as a tool for artists to equip themselves with the skills they need to do their bit to change the culture of the arts and get a fairer deal for themselves and other artists. It offers advice on getting organised, setting targets and making informed financial decisions.
