We are looking for a part-time Centre Manager to assist with the running of the Invisible Circus’s Bristol Head Quarters. Unit 15 Creation Space is a large unit which is used for rehearsals and training by circus performers, dancers, theatre practitioners and touring companies working within the performance art sector. Project 345 is a collection of artist and maker studios and located in the adjacent units.

Contract:

  • Freelance position

  • 10 hours across the week (including some weekends) Potential to increase hours

  • Fixed term

  • 3 months probation

  • Based at Unit 15, St Phillips, BS2

This is a new role and and we are looking for someone to deliver efficient and responsive operations and building management to ensure smooth day to day running of the spaces. The post holder will be a ‘go to’ person within the organisation, providing essential support to all staff tenants and circus members, and ensuring that the organisation achieves its mission, vision and strategic aims.

Main areas of responsibility

  • Manage and respond to all tenant building needs, including preventative maintenance and repair work.

  • Ensure the units and shared yard space is void of rubbish/materials and that access is clear and without obstruction.

  • Ensure the circus space is clean and tidy ahead of bookings. Liaising with external contractors when needed ie cleaners.

  • Liaising with companies ahead of bookings to ensure any technical requests are met

  • Manage the refuse and recycling facilities to ensure that the areas are cleaned and maintained appropriately

  • Being the first point of contact for all the creation spaces ensuring new performance companies are inducted to the circus space and facilities.

  • To manage the lease renewals process for all tenants.

  • Ensure all records and compliance are met on time and records kept with regards to space hire contracts, insurance, fire, health and safety

  • Contribute to the strategic development of the spaces alongside the Directors, Company Manager and Finance Manager.  

  • Be available on call for any building related/tenant issues.

Person specification

  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role.

  • Confident and strong communications skills.

  • Positive attitude, willingness to work hard and a genuine desire to make positive improvements to the spaces.

  • Experience of undertaking repairs and maintenance in a commercial environment

  • Experience in basic rigging and technical production (desirable but not essential)  

  • Be available to be called (rarely) out of hours in an emergency

  • An interest in working for a creative organisation desirable
