Interview Date Open day on 4 December, interview on 12 February 2018
We are looking to commission an artist or craftsperson to create a new work to be integrated within or displayed in conjunction with the Cotehele garland for 2018. The work should commemorate the anniversary of the end of World War I through connection with the stories of Cotehele, its tenants and the local community's experience of the war, many of which are captured in Cotehele's current exhibition. The work should be thought-provoking and inspired by Cotehele though sensitive to the historic environment of Cotehele's Great Hall. It will need to complement the tradition of the garland and its visual impact in the space. The focal point for the artwork will be the Great Hall and the garland but we would be open to proposals for work located in additional spaces on the estate. We would expect the commission to be developed in conjunction with Cotehele's staff to achieve a high quality and engaging work. We would like the development and/or display of the artwork to offer engagement opportunities for staff, volunteers and visitors to strengthen and deepen connections with the local community whilst still being accessible for all our visitors.
