The VOLts group of artists draw on the philosophical nature of the TEST SPACE as inspiration for their work. Sensations of passing, alienation, perpetual sameness and surveillance pervade this space. Through collaboration and their own varied practices the artists embrace these notions for their exhibition.

VOLts (VOLunteers test space) is an eclectic group of emerging and established artists who work as volunteers for Spike Island. They are working and collaborating together for the first time. This exhibition is the climax of their recent two week residency in the studios.

VOLts Artists: Shirley Alderton, Caroline Blake, Aloys Feeney, James Norman, Annie O’Connor, Sarah Ramsey, Cat Smith, Becky Upton.
