Opening Hours: 12-7pm

The Tangible Memories Project welcomes you to a showcase of Parlours of Wonder – bespoke spaces, creative tech and training for care homes.

Visit the exhibition to learn more about the project, hear some of the amazing stories it has unearthed, and read about the impact it is having. The Tangible Memories team has been co-creating new spaces of discovery, reflection and connection in elder care settings across Bristol and the wider region for the past year. School children have been attending workshops with older residents in the Parlours, where they have been sharing stories, objects and ideas.

The Parlours of Wonder contain objects, inspiration and creative technology designed specifically for care homes to assist residents, staff and visitors with the telling and sharing of their life histories. These include object boxes, an armchair travel map and the Cabinet of Stories, which introduces the Tangible Memories app.

This app allows you to record stories that are meaningful to you and your loved ones and listen back to them in easy and accessible ways. Try it for yourself by downloading it for free from the Apple or Android App Store, searching for: Tangible Memories.

The Tangible Memories Project began in Oct 2013 in Bristol, UK. An interdisciplinary team of University of Bristol academics, artists Stand + Stare and Heidi Hinder, local charity Alive!, care staff and older people co-designed and produced a set of new digital tools for older people living in care settings. The main goal was to improve people’s wellbeing and sense of community through the sharing of life histories. Parlours of Wonder is a development of the Tangible Memories Project.
