Pack your bags! Be inspired by the theme of travel in our temporary exhibition, and learn how to make your own small leather-goods piece with no stitching. Using only rivets and lacing techniques this workshop is a great introduction to leatherwork. You will be able to choose from a selection of colours of Italian vegetable tanned leather to make a glasses case, a phone case, a card holder, a purse or a travel pouch. Your piece can be embossed with your name or other words to personalise it. In this 3-hour workshop you will learn how to cut leather from a pattern; hole-punch, lace and emboss leather; set rivets and other fastenings; and use a variety of traditional leatherwork tools.

Leather Needle Thread was founded by Esther Keen. Esther has been a leatherworker for over 10 years and studied bag design and construction at the London College of Fashion. Esther has a love of leather and learning how to craft beautiful functional bags, belts and shoes with a needle and thread using her hands and sewing machines. Imparting all that she has learnt about bag construction and traditional leatherwork techniques, Esther teaches people how to create their own pieces.
