Opening Hours: Tues-Sat 10am - 4pm

Born in 1928, and having grown up in humble surroundings in London’s, East End, Philip Sutton left school at fourteen and briefly worked in a drawing office before completing his national service during the Berlin Airlift.

After attending the Slade School of Arts, where his contemporaries were Craigie Aitcheson, Michael Andrews and Euan Uglow, Sutton’s optimism and his stylistic freedom swiftly attracted an international following.

His work has been displayed at The Royal Academy, The Tate, The Globe, The Welsh Assembly, Kensington Palace, and Number Ten Downing Street. In 1988 he was asked to become a Royal Academician. Phillip Sutton now lives and works in Dorset.

Join us for a special evening featuring films of Philip Sutton's work introduced by the artist himself on Thursday 13th September, 7.30pm, £6.
