The fifteenth Black Swan Arts Open showcases a wealth of talent from artists across the south-west and nationally. Since 2002, the prestigious annual competition has established a reputation for attracting some of the very best contemporary artists and artworks and for selecting diverse and original pieces.

This year’s independent panel of judges includes writer and broadcaster Mariella Frostrup; Gary Sangster, trustee of the Arnolfini; Stephen Snoddy, director of the New Art Gallery Walsall; Dea Vanagan, director of Hauser & Wirth Somerset; and Seamus Nicolson, winner of the Black Swan Arts solo art show in 2015.

Over 900 entries were received, the highest figure ever, covering a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, photography, sculpture, moving image, multimedia and textiles. All the work on show is for sale (prices start from around £100 up to some higher value pieces), and visitors can vote for their favourite in the People’s Choice award.
