“…… neurodivergent – i.e. being dyslexic, dyspraxic, autistic, or having other learning difficulties or neurological/cognitive conditions, or experiencing yourself as someone whose way of relating to the world and other people is outside of the norm.” Dr. Daniel Oliver Different Voices is an ongoing talent development and mentoring programme for emerging filmmakers and creatives from the Neurodiverse community, run by Bristol-based biggerhouse film in partnership with 104 films; world leaders in disability cinema. The project aims to foster a new generation of filmmakers working from a voice that is under-represented in mainstream cinema. Working throughout October, November and December Different Voices are working with eight filmmakers during their residency at Arnolfini. Throughout the autumn, they will be running a series of workshops and one to one training sessions covering a number of filmmaking and project development techniques including animation, FX filming, editing, drama production and script-writing designed to take participants work to the next level. Come and watch the eight resulting films of Different Voices' Arnolfini residency, and take part in a discussion about the next step for Neurodiverse filmmaking. PLUS . . . An avenue to the future A presentation of work by 104 films who produce critically acclaimed and award-winning films for an international audience. Films include the BAFTA winning 'I Am Breathing', BAFTA nominated 'Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll' and the multi-award winning 'Special People' which was hailed as a “milestone in mainstream cinema” by the Guardian for its use of a disabled cast. Their most recent film, 'Notes on Blindness' was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was released to acclaim in June by Curzon. DIFFERENT VOICES is a Biggerhouse film production for 104 films supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund, with BFI’s Film Forever National Lottery funds in association with Arnolfini.
